Beer Review: Sandstone from Bridestones Brewing

Welcome to the Shed. I am even-star and this is the start of another week of The Beer in Review. Kicking off five new beer reviews with Sandstone from Bridestones Brewing.

Isn't that a pretty pump clip? Very striking branding. This is the first Bridestones beer I have had even though they have been brewing since 2006.

And I really hate to give the first beer from a new-to-me brewery a bad review but I have to say that I didn't like this one. HOWEVER this does not mean you should not try it.

I have probably written before about how fraught reviewing real ale/craft beer is. There are soooooo many different flavours to contend with across 100s of beers and breweries. It's like saying that because I don't like cucumber I won't like any other vegetables. Or because I don't like cucumber YOU won't like cucumber.

So the point is I found this beer to be grassy and sort of empty of flavour. There was no bite to it. It was just a kind of gold beer flavoured liquid. Your brain might put things together in a totally different way and love this beer.

I am not trying to disclaim here or anything. Taste in beer (craft beer especially) is a personal thing. But there are definitely BAD beers out there and if you have read some of the other reviews on here you will know that I don't hold back when that is the case. I don't think this is a bad beer. I just didn't like it.

Try Sandstone from Bridestones and tweet me what you thought of it! I would love to know! @even_star

This has not put me off Bridestones as a brewery though. I hope I get to try more of their beers. You can't please everyone all of the time. It is simply unfortunate that my first experience with them didn't blow me away.
