Cambridgeshire Craft Beer Review: JHB (Jeffrey Hudson Bitter) from Oakham Ales

Welcome to Norwich. I am even-star and this is a special week of The Beer in Review featuring Norwich and it's amazing craft beer scene. Today's Cambridgeshire craft beer review is for JHB (Jeffrey Hudson Bitter) from Oakham Ales.

Yes folks it was a brilliant 36 hours in Norwich and I have a LOAD of new beer reviews from this amazing city of ales. I have not seen SUCH a vibrant craft beer and real ale pub scene any where else in the UK. Not London. Not Manchester. Not Bristol. Norwich is where it is at.

And I realise that Oakham Ales do not come from Norfolk but I had this beer in one of the lovely Norwich pubs over the weekend.

I don't know who Jeffrey Hudson is but I hope he was not as disappointed in this beer as I was. The problem is that I have loved other Oakham Ales and this one fell so short of the mark for them.

It was a blah yellow beer. Very light in colour and flavour. Medium bitter and grassy without any distinct sort of hops or other flavour. If I hadn't had such high expectations I wouldn't be so hard on it so maybe try it for yourself.

It happens every so often. A brewery that puts out consistently interesting and tasty beers comes up with a dud. Has this happened to you? What was the brewery? Tweet me at the link below (@even_star).
