Craft Beer Review: Dark Drake from Dancing Duck Brewery

Welcome to the Shed. I am even-star and this is The Beer in Review. Today's craft beer review is for Dark Drake from Dancing Duck Brewery.

I must say I am ALWAYS excited when a new brewery turns up at our local and Dancing Duck is certainly a newer, hipper, trendier craft brewery than we usually see.

It was disappointing that the first beer from them I get to try is a stout. Not a fan of stout although there has been at least one that has almost made me a convert.

Speaking objectively: Dark Drake was black almost to opaqueness. It was malty and sweet with fruity coffee and rich coconutty flavours. Less savoury than some porters and stouts I've had but with a kind of oiliness.

Subjectively: interesting but not for me. If you love a sweet black beer or fancy a change of pace from the relentless parade of IPAs give it a whirl.

Hopefully I'll see Dancing Duck at the pump again soon with a style that's more to my taste.

The Beer in Review is a blog about beer. Mostly British beer because that is where I live. I post a review every week day. Make sure you check in on Friday which is when I reveal BEER. OF THE. WEEK! You can contact me with comments and questions on twitter or facebook.
