Craft Beer Review: Wight Knight from Island Brewery

Welcome to the Shed. I am even-star and this is The Beer in Review. Today's craft beer review is for Wight Knight from Island Brewery.

Share It!

See what they did there? Wight not White cuz they are from the Isle of Wi... never mind.

A bonus beer for you this week folks because I had one left over. Very rare that I get more than five in a week and find myself with a backlog.

Not had an Island Brewery beer before and I took one sip of Wight Knight and exclaimed: Oooh! so interesting! what an interesting beer!

And indeed you sometimes get a beer that is so different from all the others that, even if it isn't particularly to your taste, you can still applaud the skill and ingenuity that made it.

This beer was a dark gold and quite malty and sweet. The surprising flavours in it were aniseed and what I can only describe as cream soda. It even had a creamy kind of mouth feel to it. Very smooth. It also had that edgy bitterness you get from pure vanilla but with a smooth sweet lingering finish of white chocolate.  Definitely a dessert beer. For me anyway. Liked it but in small doses.

The Beer in Review is a blog about beer. Mostly British beer because that is where I live. I post a review every week day. Make sure you check in on Friday which is when I reveal BEER. OF THE. WEEK! You can contact me with comments and questions on twitter or facebook.
