Real Ale Beer Review: Goldings Ale from Shepherd Neame

Welcome to the Shed. I am even-star and this is The Beer in Review. Today's real ale beer review is for Goldings Ale from Shepherd Neame.

Share It!

Goldings was a dark gold bitter. Very light taste. A bit of malt, a bit if hoppy citrus, slightly floral. Fresh kinda sweet finish.

Basically beer flavoured.

I gotta tell ya hop heads, this has not been a great week for beer. Sometimes, even though it would destroy my averages in trying to stick to my goal of 250, I would prefer to have one super beer over the weekend rather than six or eight mediocre ones.

So you know, there will not be a beer of the week this week. I refuse to reward mediocrity and none of the beers this week stood out above the rest.

There is also a bit of bad beer handling go on. This one felt flat and a bit stale. Yesterday's SX Dark tasted like it could have been on the turn.

It can totally ruin the best of beers. And again it would sometimes be better to go to a pub with just one guest on that they treat really well and gets a lot of turn over rather than a place with five pumps where the beer doesn't get changed, the pipes don't get cleaned, and the barrels get knocked around.

The Beer in Review is a blog about beer. Mostly British beer because that is where I live. I post a review every week day. Make sure you check in on Friday which is when I reveal BEER. OF THE. WEEK! You can contact me with comments and questions on twitter or facebook.
