Oxforshire Craft Beer Review: Black Beauty from The White Horse Brewery

Welcome to the Shed. I am even-star and this is The Beer in Review. Today's Oxfordshire craft beer review is for Black Beauty from The White Horse Brewery.

Almost didn't recognize White Horse on the pump. It's been that long since I've seen them PLUS this clip doesn't include their iconic branding of the white chalk horse.

Black Beauty was a dark red almost black malty bitter: molasses, cherries, and blackberries.

I have often found that dark beers, like dark wines, benefit greatly from a little bit of oxygen. If you have them fresh out of the barrel you are not only cheating yourself of some amazing flavours that will develop later but you might find they don't taste very good.

This was the case with Black Beauty. Jade let me try a bit right after she put it on. Didn't do much for me but I KNEW it would improve. And a few days later I really enjoyed it!

The Beer in Review is a blog about beer. Mostly British beer because that is where I live. I post a review every week day. Make sure you check in on Friday which is when I reveal BEER. OF THE. WEEK! You can contact me with comments and questions on twitter or facebook.
