Welcome to Canada. I'm a craft beer reviewer, and I'm OK, and this is The Beer in Review. Today's Essex craft beer review is for Lumberjack from Brentwood Brewing Company.

I must apologise to all my Twitter friends. When I posted this pump clip on Sunday I believe I credited Mighty Oak with this beer and not BBC. The last one or two from BBC have not been on top form but I really liked Lumberjack. Credit where it is due peoples. Apologies to BBC as well!

This was the first beer I had after spending a week in Portugal where anything other than sickly sweet lager or very good wine is very hard to come by. And Lumberjack is just such a proper English bitter is so many ways.

Lumberjack was a dark brown, fruity, medium bitter. Loads of flavour with cherries, malts, coffee, and bitter dark chocolate. It was smooth and kind of creamy without descending into dessert beer territory. This would be lovely with a steak pie or beef stew. Real comfort beer to go with dark delicious comfort food. Yummy!

If you don't recognise that picture on the clip, YouTube "Lumberjack Song". Some of you MUST be too young to remember that. I am almost too young but thankfully had geeky parents.

The Beer in Review is a blog about beer. Mostly British beer because that is where I live. I post a review every week day. Make sure you check in on Friday which is when I reveal BEER. OF THE. WEEK! You can contact me with comments and questions on twitter or facebook.
