Hertfordshire Craft Beer Review: Old Chestnut from Tring Brewery Company

Welcome to the Shed. I am even-star and this is The Beer in Review. Today's Hertfordshire craft beer review is for Old Chestnut from Tring Brewery Company.

Oh Tring. You make some very delicious beers! Old Chestnut is one of these. It was a dark amber bitter.  Strong citrus hops of grapefruit. Nutty and rich with vaguely peachy fruits. Bitter chocolate at the back. Front to back it was a lovely balanced complex beer.

If that is the kind of flavour Fuggles (a British hop btw) makes, I must add these to my hops baby project this year.

Beer of the Week was something I did in 2015. I would pick the best beer I had over the week and review it on Fridays. This petered off during the back end of the year because life got a bit crazy and it was all I could do to post reviews whenever I could.

I am thinking of trying something different this year. Firstly so I don't get all stressed out about getting a review up for Friday. Secondly because some weeks there just isn't a beer that stands out and then other weeks there might be two or three.

So what I am thinking of is tagging these extraordinary beers as having the even-star Snail of Approval. If I ever have time I will even make a little sticker or something with a snail on it.

The Beer in Review is a blog about British craft beer and real ale. Keep up with new posts and contact me comments and questions on twitter or facebook. I'd love to hear about your craft beer adventures and recommendations from your home town.
