Welcome to the Shed. I am even-star and this is The Beer in Review. Today's American craft beer review is for Honkers Ale from Goose Island.

Goose Island Honkers Ale was an amber bitter. Malty and beery, crisp bitter, caramel, celery, lettuce. So on the green vegetable side of aromatics. I guess you could say it was very much in the style of some English bitters if your understanding of English beer is that it all tastes the same. Which it doesn't.
So this was an American beer that I had at a Canadian bar. Oddly, it was NOT the most English-style beer I tried while in Canada. I wonder if I would have thought it MORE English if they hadn't put English Style on the label and I had been able to make my own mind up?
This beer seemed popular in many areas in Ontario. We saw it on tap often.
