Essex Craft Beer Review: Yo Boy! from Mersea Island Brewery

Welcome to the Shed. I am even-star and this is The Beer in Review. Today's Essex craft beer review is for Yo Boy! from Mersea Island Brewery.

Yo Boy! was a cloudy dark amber bitter. Medium sweet and kinda fruity. Really kind of weak, coffee-ish, kind of orange rind. Meh, not great.

So a couple of points here:

First is I've not had a Mersea Island beer before and I was kind of disappointed that this first beer I got to try was disappointing.

Second point is that yesterday's beer and this one were on at the same time and both had this unusual portrait format rectangle for the pump clip. I have seen all sorts of shapes and sizes for clips but never this long thin rectangle. And two different beers from two different counties all at the same time. Weird.

Bonus point: Mersea Island really is an island off the coast of Essex near Colchester. At least it is an island SOME of the time. You have to be careful or you will be caught by the tide when the sea comes in and covers the road on the causeway.
