Welcome to the Shed. I am even-star and this is The Beer in Review. Today's Edinburgh craft beer review is for Rare Red from Caledonian.

Rare Red was a dark red rye ale. Not to look biased or anything but I LOVE rye beers. Which means I am very critical of the shyte ones. Rare Red was a lovely beer. Smelled like chocolate. Tasted like chocolate! Like cocoa. Not that a chocolate flavour is characteristic of rye beers. Medium sweet but with a fruity bitterness of coffee. Cinnamon and vanilla. Definitely that malty Rye flavour.

Rare Red from Caledonian is hereby awarded the Official Snail of Approval.
