Essex Craft Beer Review: Star Man from Mighty Oak

Essex Craft Beer Review: Star Man from Mighty Oak real ale pump clip
Welcome to the Shed. I am even-star and this is The Beer in Review. Today's Essex craft beer review is for Star Man from Mighty Oak.

Star Man is a dark red porter. Very typical of that style of beer. Dark with tones of coffee and liquorice. But there are some lighter soft fruits in there as well. Plum mostly. Thin bodied but a rich soft mouth feel like velvet. As much as I love the Slim White Duke and Mighty Oak, this beer is not my bag. At least not in copious amounts. It was a nice change from all of the Christmas and pale ales I have been having though.

I appreciate Mighty Oak's sentiment here. I am a big fan of the Bowie and it is on the one year anniversary of his too early death that this beer comes out. I would have thought a lighter brighter beer would suit Ziggy Stardust better. But this was thin and velvety with dark tones so on further consideration this is a very fitting tribute!
